So remember when I told you weeks ago that I was going to make my Christmas cards? Well, I didn’t tell you a fib.
When I lived in Seattle I always made my Christmas cards by hand. One year I made cards out of 3-dimensional ornaments and another year I made my cards inside metal tins which served as the envelope. Back then I started working on my cards months in advance of Christmas and spent lots of time making sure every detail was unique and special.
Fast forward to today. Yes, I still love to make my cards by hand but I never seem to have time or energy on my side. So when it came to my Christmas cards this year, I used my creativity to come up with a super easy and simple card design that took less than 10 minutes to create.
Supplies needed:
Decorative Notecards + Holiday Gift Tags +Decorative Sticky Back Beads
{plus double-sided tape}
While standing in line at Michaels one day, I noticed these black, white and copper striped notecards with lined envelopes. I’ve never met a black and white stripe I didn’t love so I grabbed a couple of boxes.
Then while shopping at HomeGoods I spotted these wreath gift tags. The tags are from Anna Griffin who is one of my favorite paper designers. The minute I saw them I knew they would make a great embellishment for a Christmas card. #homegoodshappy
With supplies in hand, I got busy and crafted my Christmas cards…
I removed the red ribbon that came with the gift tags (using those for another easy DIY project), attached the tags to the card with double-sided tape and placed a decorated sticky backed bead over the tag hole. Easy as one, two, three!

Since the gift tags had a holiday sentiment on them, I left the inside of the cards blank and will write a special holiday message to my friends and family.
Even though I didn’t spend as much quality time as usual making my cards this year, I love how they turned out. Sometimes it’s the simple things that make the season Merry & Bright!
