It’s no secret that I love shopping at flea markets and looking for that diamond in the rough. Most of the time, when I set out on a shopping trip, I’m not looking for anything specific. I know what I like, I have a pretty good eye and can spot a great piece and I know I deal when I come across one.
This year I decided that I’m not going to go to the Longest Yard Sale (you can read about last years trip here and here) but instead look for a few new thrifting spots closer to home to shop. The hubs and I have a couple of weekend trips planned before the summer is over and for this time around I have a list of items I’ll be looking for.
My thrift shopping habits change all the time. Sometimes I’m looking for small decorative pieces and other times I’m looking for larger statement pieces. My current state of mind is focused on small pieces that make an impact.
Here are a few things that are on my flea market shopping list..
After seeing this image from Serena & Lily, I’ve wanted a pair of vintage camp stools that I could UpStyle with a stylish fabric like leather or hide. I love the idea of stools as an accent in a living room or nestled under a console table. They are also ideal at the foot of a bed to hold pillows and blankets or even luggage.

Another item on my flea market list are old drawers. I’m not looking for plain drawers but ones with some detail like the ones below. I see these quite often when I’m thrifting but really didn’t have a vision for them. Now I do!

I’m also on the hunt for a accordion rack. I like the style that can sit on a table surface but really want to score one that can hang on a wall and be used as a hat rack. I see the tabletop version at Goodwill quite often but the wall version is a harder find.

And the last item on my list is a gumball machine. Yes, I know I can purchase a new one for less than $30 but I’d love to find a vintage one for a steal especially since I plan to paint it. Maybe I’ll even get lucky and find on a stand.

Summer is a great time to go thrifting and hit up garage sales and I’m excited to go treasure hunting!
So, what’s on your thrifting list? And do you have any hot spots within a few hours of Atlanta I should check out?

Oh Shelly, you have started something with those vintage drawers. I can think of a lot of ways to use them for storage including the ones you have here. Too cute. Thanks for sharing. I’m sharing this post with a friend who needs to be following your blog.
