Country Living Fair + An Opportunity

Sorry I was MIA the end of last week,  but I was busy prepping for a big weekend.  First on the agenda was a girls outing on Friday to the Country Living Fair which came to Stone Mountain, here in Atlanta.

I love Country Living magazine and couldn’t wait to see all great products and demos going on at the fair.

My friends Tina, Karen and I made our way to Stone Mountain and were immediately transported into Country Living magazine come to life.

Beautiful flowers flanked the entrance,

 and the iconic mound of pumpkins and gourds greeted you upon entering the fair.  Isn’t this just an incredibly beautiful display for fall.

At the Country Living store, several tables were set up with inspiring tabletop displays.  I really loved the creative ways that all the pumpkins, gourds and flowers were used.

 I don’t know where they found them, but there were so many pumpkins and gourds with incredible twisted and curved stems all throughout the fair.

 The tablescapes provided lots of simple ways to decorate for fall, and I especially loved the vintage metal number tags that were used as placemakers at one of the tables.

Despite the sun being out, it was a little chilly in the park so we took some time to sit by the fire which was surrounded by a massive stone fireplace.

{ No lie, Tina must have had at least 20 people stop her and comment on how cute here pink and grey vest was!  Considering that she made it herself, she could have sold tons of them as we walked through the park}

The exhibits and vendor booths were spread out over a wide area of the park, and each booth was filled to the brim with rustic decorative items, handcrafted items, antiques and a range of vintage pieces.

There were lots of beautiful and inspiring vignettes as we walked through the fair.  I really loved this dress form that was wrapped in linen and adorned with a flowing skirt made of ferns.  Christmas ornaments hung from the skirt!

Along with vintage and antique items for sale, there were lots of incredible handmade items up for grabs.

 I fell in love with this holiday inspired book page cone wreath and this ruffle trim houndstooth plaid jacket.  The ruffle trim buttons onto the jacket so that you have the option of wearing the plaid jacket without that embellishment.

{I’m definitely making one of these wreaths for the holidays}

Isn’t this jacket sooooo cute?

Among the attractions at the fair were Sisters on the Fly, a group of active and spirited women who caravan around the country taking part in country and wilderness themed adventures like fly fishing, hiking and river running.

The group, totalling 1400 women, travel in comfort and style, hauling their “glamping trailers” behind them.  These decked out vintage trailers are small in size but big on style. Check them out..

Every member who has a trailer decorates them to fit their style and personality.

The inside of the two trailers we saw were pretty posh with cozy linens, antique decor, mini kitchens and even flat screen tv’s.

The entire Country Living Fair was great.  Karen, Tina and I spent the day shopping all the vendors and taking in the beauty of Stone Mountain and all the beautiful fall inspiration.

On Sunday, the adventures of my weekend continued.  A couple  months ago I was selected by the editors of Country Living magazine to “pitch your product” to them during the fair event.  If you are not aware of Country Living Pitch Your Product event, it’s where Country Living selects handcraft artist from around the country to present their items for a possible feature in future issue of the magazine.

Besides my interior design business, I’m also an avid handcraft artist and one of the things I make is jewelry.  Not your typical jewelry, but jewelry made from vintage furniture and drawer hardware, antique keys, vintage jewelry, belt buckles and all kinds of antique findings.  So, when I was selected by the magazine to  pitch my product, I was beyond thrilled.  Here’s a sneak peak of a couple of my pieces (coming soon to my Etsy shop).

I won’t find out until December if my jewelry will be featured in the magazine, but being selected just to present it was an honor.  I’m working really had to get my Etsy shop up and running this week and will let you know when it goes live.  I’ll also be sure to let you know if I’m selected for a feature in Country Living.  Keep your fingers crossed!

All in all, my weekend was fantastic!  Beautiful sights, time with friends, fun shopping, design inspiration and an opportunity of a lifetime.

I hope you weekend was fab too!
