Design Trend: Pastels

I spotted this book at the bookstore over the weekend and was really taken by all the beautiful images it has. As someone who was classified years ago as a “winter” {remember the days of the fashion color wheel?} I have never had a real affinity for pastels in my clothing or in my décor.  I am however growing to like the infusion of a few soft color statements in a room and how they portray a sense of femininity and sophistication. And in fashion, nothing seems fresher for spring than soft colored accessories

The artwork in this image is a great example of how you can decorate with pastels and not have the room feel too girly.
Even little statements like a throw or accent piece and set the tone of a room.
These ombre drapes are stunning!
The ceiling color balances the color in the large sofa and rug.
That chair!

While pastel colors may not make a lot of noise they surely do scream style!

Will you be sporting pastels this spring or going for more vibrant colors?

I remember getting our “colors done”. 🙂 I think I was a spring or a summer. I don’t use pastels enough myself. I love them, appreciate them but don’t use them. I have made more of an effort in my wardrobe with pastels but not my home probably because of all my boys. Thanks for the inspiration on this lovely spring day!
