Stripes would be fab. I see you with some bright and bold stripes.
Keep in mind that if you ceilings are low, vertical stripes will make the space feel taller and more open. If the room is small, horizontal stripes will make the space will wider and larger.
Even width stripes are more traditional and classic which random width stripes are more modern and contemporary. And, if you want to have a subtle effect, paint the stripes using flat and semi-gloss paint, alternating the finish with each stripe.
