Weekend Wrap-Up | Seasonal Delights & More

Weekend Wrap Up | Fab Finds & Inspiration from ConfettiStyle

Cheers to a lazy weekend!  The hubs and I got up and ran a few errands this morning and now that we’re home, we’ve been watching gory movies on the SyFy channel. I hope I don’t have a bad dream tonight.

Anyway, I wanted to pop in and share a few seasonal favorites, fashion finds and decor inspiration from the week.  I hope you enjoy!

  FALL & HOLIDAY DECOR INSPIRATION

I spotted this tassel Christmas stocking at Anthropologie and immediately thought about how easy it would be to UpStyle a plain stocking with yarn tassels.

I love this seasonal Thanksgiving tablescape from Minted. The layering is perfection.

For those of you that decorate for Christmas in traditional red and green, these gorgeous ornaments are for you.

These beaded ornaments would make fun wine bottle or gift tags.

Great Thanksgiving traditions the make the most of the day.

  FALL & HOLIDAY FASHION FINDS

Weekend Wrap Up | Fab Finds & Inspiration from ConfettiStyle

When its cold outside (like today) you’ll most likely find me wearing yoga pants and a sweatshirt. I love a sweatshirt that has a little style to it and recently picked up this cute striped sweatshirt.  It’s so cozy and I love the puff sleeve.

This tartan plaid shirt would be fun to wear to a casual Christmas party.

I don’t shop H & M that often but they’ve got some really cute clothes right now.  And you can’t beat their prices.  This cute nordic inspired sweater and this mohair blend sweater are two seasonal faves.

OTHER GREAT STUFF

This new retro designed monogram mug from Anthroplogie would make a great Christmas gift.  The matching coasters are awesome too.

,Flavors Of Fall Progressive Dinner Blog Hop--Tablescape by ConfettiStyle

There are a few more days until we can officially ring in the fall season, but I’m joining some blog friends to jumpstart the season with a fall blog hop.  Welcome to the Flavors of Fall Virtual Progressive Dinner Blog Hop.  If you missed the party inspiration we shared earlier this year, check out the spring soiree  and summer soiree blog hop.

If you’re coming over from Viva La Vintage For Your Home, thanks for stopping by.  Jamala’s Blueberry Molasses Wings look finger licking good.  For those of you just now jumping in, no worries, I will provide a link to the other party stops at the bottom of the post so you won’t miss any of the Flavors Of Fall entertaining fun.

Now that you’ve indulged in a cocktail (or two) and enjoyed a delicious appetizer, it’s time to sit down at the table for the main course.  I was in charge of creating a fall inspired tablescape and I’m pretty jazzed with how it turned out.

The inspiration and focal point of my fall table was this beautiful pumpkin and ribbon centerpiece that I created.  I gathered some faux pumpkins, made ribbon pics using ribbon from  The Ribbon Roll and assembled all the elements on a wood tray.

.p.s.  Those of you that have been reading my blog for a while know that I have a thing for ribbon!!  I’m excited to let you know that I am joining one of my favorite ribbon companies, The Ribbon Roll as part of the design team.  Each season I will be making DIY projects showcasing their beautiful ribbons.  The projects will be shared on their blog (coming soon) and I’ll also be sharing them here on my blog. Until then, you can shop their assortment of ribbons here and follow The Ribbon Roll facebook page here.

update:  The full DIY tutorial for making this centerpiece is now live on The Ribbon Roll blog

Using the colors in my centerpiece as inspiration, I built the place settings around brown and ivory.  I used my brown and white English transferware plates and placed them on top of brown faux crocodile chargers  The linen colored leaf placemats were a great find at Bed Bath Beyond–just .85 cents ea.  The striped napkins are from HomeGoods.

Instead of place cards at each placesetting, I printed out the menu, placed it to a small clip board and set it on top of each plate.  It’s an easy and inexpensive way to add an unexpected touch to the table.  The natural color of the clipboards worked great with my decor but you could paint or decorate them to fit any party theme.

DINNER PARTY TIPS:

Create a color theme for your party decor so all the elements work together.

Keep the centerpiece low so your guests can see and converse across the table with ease.

Incorporate unscented candles into your table decor for ambience.  I mean everyone looks great by candlelight, right!

Layers are key to a beautiful table so add them into your place setting, centerpiece and table linens.

Don’t be afraid to mix and match metal finishes when you’re setting a table.  I used silver flatware alongside brass candleholders. The two tones work great with the colors in my centerpiece and add visual contrast to the arrangement.

Aren’t these fringe napkins rings just adorable?  They were so easy to make and added a fun touch to my table.  I’ll be sharing how to make these on the blog tomorrow.

Colorful Fall Touches Around The House | 2018

Fall Home Tour--ConfettiStyle 2018

Hi friends.  We moved into our new house just over a year ago and while I haven’t done an official house tour, I have shown you bits and pieces of our decor.  To be real, I’m still decorating, searching for the perfect piece of art to go over the sofa, and adding finishing touches to our decor.   I’m hoping to finish up a few things before I start decorating for Christmas and plan to create a video tour to share with you.  Until then, let me show you my fall decor!

Even though I don’t traditionally do much decorating for fall, I did add little touches to our living and dining room.  If you’re expecting traditional fall colors and lots of plaid and leaf decor, hold tight because my fall decor is a little untraditional.  It’s all about color.

THE COLORS OF FALL

I LOVE COLOR and have lots of bright tones and patterns throughout my house. So as not to stray too far from my design aesthetic, I used bright elements to decorate for the season.  I replaced the pink peonies that were on the coffee table during summer with these beautiful yellow sunflowers.  Sunflowers are one of my favorite flowers and I just love how bright and cheery they look.

I moved the decor around and switched up some of the books.  And I filled a vintage brass pedestal bowl with handmade felt acorns.  Even more color!

Seasonal Decor--Home Tour--ConfettiStyle 2018

The acrylic tray got replaced with an animal print tray that I snagged for under $5 at a flea market.  I always have a touch of animal print in my decor and fall is the perfect season to showcase it.  You might have noticed that I didn’t change the pillows on the sofa (yet), but think I’ve found the perfect fall combination.  Stay tuned.

Autumn Home Tour--ConfettiStyle 2018

There are no big changes to the fireplace hearth except the addition of white pumpkins nested amongst my blue and white jars.

Fall Home Tour--ConfettiStyle 2018

We have a small console table that sits next to the door leading out to the deck.  The pink and gold pumpkins along with the orange peonies give this little vignette a fall feel.  In case you’re wondering, the beautiful peony stems cam from Hobby Lobby.

FALL FLOWERS

Fall Home Tour--ConfettiStyle 2018

Over in the dining room, I dressed up the buffet with an eclectic mix of items.  I grouped brown tortoise hurricanes with small blue and white ginger jars and a velvet pumpkin under a glass cloche.  Then I added small green and white pumpkins to the mix.  I love the reflection in the mirror at night when the candles are burning.

design tip:  to prevent candle wax sticking to the bottom of a glass hurricane, place a few drops of water in the container.  The water will prevent any candle wax that drips from hardening.

Have you noticed that I have pumpkins of all shades and sizes.  I found some really cute ones this year and couldn’t resist.  The green pumpkins are from Micheals and orange velvet pumpkin is from HomeGoods.  The white ceramic pumpkins are from Hobby Lobby but I painted the stems gold…just because!

I sat a grouping of colorful pumpkins on the kitchen peninsula and love this little spot of happiness.  Grouping pumpkins in different finishes and materials makes the grouping more interesting. The gold pumpkin is from HomeGoods, the small orange pumpkin from Target Dollar Spot and the pink pumpkin is from Michaels.  I shared a picture of the pink and green pumpkins on Instagram and so many of you loved them.

I even got my cocktail bar in on the fall fun by adding small pumpkins to the monkey bowl. Sometimes it’s the little things that make the best decorating moments.

Fall Home Tour--ConfettiStyle 2018

To finish off the dining area, I did decorate the table for fall.  Here’s a sneak peek.  I’ll be sharing the full tablescape tomorrow as part of a fall blog hop so make sure to check back.  You can see my fall tablescape from last year here.

That wraps up my fall home tour! I hope you enjoyed looking around and seeing the just like my decor, fall comes in a variety of colors.   If you’re new to my blog, I hope you’ll consider subscribing.  You can do that by filling in the pink box in the sidebar.

The Nate Berkus Fall 2016 Collection

Nate Berkus Fall 2016 Collection for Target

Every season, Nate Berkus develops his product line for Target and every season it gets better and better.  His fall collection is filled with texture, chic design details and metallic elements. And I am truly astonished at the affordable price points.

As I looked through the collection on the website, it was hard to narrow down my top picks. I did and came away with a list of 12 items that will elevate the style of any home in a flash.

The Nate Berkus Collection For Target–Fall 2016

No. 1–There is so much to love about the Screen Door Nightstand, from the door detail to the brass handles.  Its easy to envision it next to a bed but I could also see it used for storage in a home office or even in a bathroom.

No. 2–I’ve been looking for a small console table for a client and this Brass and Gold Console Table might be it.  The size is perfect for a small hallway, next to the front door or in a guest bedroom.  I can also envision this table with small stools nested underneath it.

No. 3–This Marble and Gold Console Table is a great option for a small wall space between windows or on a stair landing.  I’d also consider using a pair flanking a bed with wall mounted sconces above them.

No. 4–If you’ve  shopped for small side tables you know how hard they can be to find.  The Brass and Hexagon End Table is ideal next to an upholstered chair or sofa to hold a cocktail.

No. 5–Rattan stools are a classic design piece and I love the two-tone detail on this Rattan Stool.  I’d place a pair in front of a fireplace for additional seating or use them as side tables in a sunroom.

No. 6–The Equestrian Side Table might be my favorite piece in the entire collection.  I love the idea of a pair used as a coffee table alternative or one or two under a console table in a foyer.

No. 7–This Braided Woven Storage Basket is just begging for a couple of throw blankets or a lush plant.  Or you could use it in a kids play space to hold toys.

No. 8–I’m a sucker for pretty bowls and this Faceted Mini Bowl is perfect for snacks or used to hold jewelry and trinkets in a bedroom.

No. 9–You can’t beat the elegant style or the $19.99 price of this Gold Mirror vanity mirror.

Nate Berkus Fall 2016 Collection for Target

No. 10–I’ve talked about my love for letter organizers here on the blog before.  This Gold Hammered Letter Sorter is great because the scale will hold letters, file folders or magazines.

No. 11–The black and gold color combo plus the price of this Brass and Gold Coffee Table made it an obvious choice for my list.  Just imagine this in a reading/lounge area flanked by four upholstered slipper chairs.

No. 12–Black and white is a hot design trend for bathrooms so this chic Graphic Bath Rug is right on target. I think it would look fabulous in this bathroom.

Nate Berkus Fall 2016 Collection

After I checked out the collection online, I visited my local store to check them out in person. Everything looks great and the furniture pieces are well-built for the price.

p.s.  as I was writing this, I noticed that many of the items in the collection are on SALE.  You’ll want to act fast if you see anything you like.

You can shop the entire Nate Berkus collection here.

Fall Bar Cart Styling (and my favorite cocktail accessories)

Fall Bar Cart Styling by ConfettiStyle

I’m not a big drinker and during the fall and winter, I love a hot cocktail like spiked cider or boozy hot chocolate. And now that the temps are falling in the evening, I thought I better get my bar cart ready for fall sips.

I have two bar carts that I switch between so I decided to put the smaller cart away and pull out my large three-tier cart.  I made this shelving piece at a Home Depot Do-it-Herself workshop a couple of years ago and love it.

Fall Bar Cart Styling by ConfettiStyle

Like most of my decor these days, I styled my cart with both brass and blue and white pieces.  And to keep the cart fun, I added whimsical pieces like the BAR marquee letters and a couple of decorative pineapples.

As the season progresses, I’ll probably switch out the pumpkins for and fall flowers for something else but for now my cart is dressed for fall.

Blue and White DIY Ice Bucket

When styling my bar cart, I have some go to pieces that I think every bar cart needs.  They include pretty glassware, a chic cocktail tray and cotton cocktail napkins.  I also love a fun ice bucket and a brass pineapple cocktail shaker.  All of these items can be purchased new or you can shop flea markets and antique stores for vintage pieces.   To make shopping easy, I’ve rounded up a few of my favorite off the shelf cocktail finds.

2016 Fall Tablescape–Autumn Colors With A Twist

est

I’m excited to share my fall tablescape with you today.  If you remember, a few weeks ago I shared the fall inspiration board below.  The vision was a table that included blue and white with pops of orange, white and gold.  Like all inspiration boards, the elements were meant to inspire the pattern, color and style direction I wanted for my table.

Fall Entertaining--Fall Tablescape

Here’s where the inspiration led me…

fall-2016-tablescape-by-confettistyle-15

fall-tablescape-by-confettistyle-2016-2

fall tablescape-by-confettistyle-2016-4

I had so much fun pulling together this fall tablescape and love the orange and navy color palette even more than I thought I would. In the end I decided to pump up the color impact and use orange and blue in more dominant ways.  I also created a more colorful floral arrangement using sunflowers which are one of my favorite flowers.

fall tablescape-by-confettistyle-2016-13

fall-tablescape-by-confettistyle-2016-8

fall-tablescape-by-confettistyle-2016-21

If you’ve been reading my blog for a while, you know that one of the most important elements to a beautiful table setting is the layers.  I went all out with this table and included layers from the linens up.  The plush blue tablecloth was made from a remnant piece of velvet I found at JoAnn fabrics.  The orange runner layered on top (it’s actually a tablecloth folded in thirds) was a $5.00 find at a consignment store.  The subtle plaid pattern adds even more visual interest to the table. The last fabric element I added were orange napkins in a slightly darker hue than the runner. The napkins came from HomeGoods.

fall--tablescap-e-by-confettistyle-2016-25

fall--tablescape-by-confettistyle-2016-24

In creating the place settings, I knew I wanted to use my wood chargers as the foundation. I layered the dinnerware starting with my vintage Blue Willow plates.  Then I added a small wood cheese board and a small blue and white ironstone plate. The wood charger and cheese board add a rustic touch to the table.

fall--tablescape-bty-confettistyle-2016-26

fall-tablescape-by-confettistyle-2016-17

I created my floral arrangement in a gold pedestal bowl I bought at HomeGoods last year.  The texture of the bowl resembles the bark of a tree–another visual detail. Surrounding the floral arrangement are different sizes of faux pumpkins, mostly in white and gold.  One orange velvet pumpkin was added as an unexpected element.  Did you notice the feather stems I mixed in with the flowers?  Feathers are a fun fall accent.

fall-tablescape-by-confettistyle-2016-11

fall-tablescape-by-confettistyle-2016-7

To visually elongate the centerpiece, I placed two blue and white ginger jars on each side of the floral arrangement.  The blue and white  chinoiserie pattern plays off the pattern in the dinner plates.

The name cards are DIY using blank white business cards, a gold metallic Sharpie and pumpkin cocktail picks from the craft store.

fall-tablescape-by-confettistyle-2016-4

fall-tablescape-by-confettistyle-2016-3

As with most of the tablescapes I create, this one included items I’ve thrifted or purchased for a bargain.  The wood leaf bowl I scored at a thrift store for $2.00 along with the brass candlesticks which were $6.00 for the pair. The white ceramic squirrels I found in the dollar spot at Target. #score

Happy Tuesday.  I hope everyone is having a great start to the week.  You might have noticed that its been quiet here on the blog lately. This month I’ve filled the pages of my inspiration notebook with beautiful images that are inspiring me and that represent the beauty of fall.
