Inspiration for the Holidays

Hi there and Happy Saturday
I haven’t had any time this week to pull together links for my Weekend Reads post because I’ve been busy holiday decorating for clients.  So instead I thought I share with you a few images of what me and my elves have been up to.
You may have seen this Thanksgiving centerpiece that I created for a client on instagram.   For Thanksgiving we were going for lots of layers, texture and depth….

After their big Thanksgiving dinner, I went back and simplified the centerpiece for a more intimate Christmas party they are having.

I used a lot of the same floral stems and added ornaments, berry clusters and sparkly copper ribbon pieces.  The silver tray will hold a grouping of copper candles.

I’m participating in the Oh, hello friend Holiday Advent Swap and created these festive gift bags to hold the items I’m sending my swap partner Taylor.  The decorative pennant papers you see on the outside of each bag is actually a gift tag I incorporated into the design.  Taylor can pull these tags off and use them in the future for gift giving.

This is a part of a staircase garland I created for a client.  I love the look of the mixed greens and the oversized bow and ornament cluster.

This beautiful mantle garland mixes faux greens with magnolia leave and wide plaid ribbon.  My client is hosting 4 holiday parties so I’ll be changing out the magnolia leaves often to keep the look fresh.

Here’s a look at another home I decorated.  The color scheme is a mix of gold, copper, bronze and wine.  And of course a little animal print thrown into the mix.

Up close detail of the tree…we used different ribbons to create bows around the tree which helps to punch up the design.

And one of my elves decked out this chandelier with a bevy of beautiful ornaments.
It’s been a busy couple of weeks but there’s still more decorating to do.  Plus I’ve got to finish the décor at my homestead.
I’ll be back next week with lots of holiday diy projects and a look at my holiday décor.
Until then,
Merry, Merry!

Eat, Drink and Be Merry Gift Bag

It’s the holiday season and that means gift giving time.  One of my go-to gift wrapping supplies during the busy holiday season is gift bags.  I usually don’t but the pre-decorated bags but instead opt to decorate my own to create something unique and special for my family or friends.

Gift bags + Craffiti Direct Stamps = Stylish Holiday Gift Packaging

Slide1

To create this gift bag I started with a simply brown Kraft bag.  I love the look of Kraft paper with traditional Christmas colors.

I then used my circle cutter to cut 4″ dia circles from red tartan plaid paper and white card stock.

Next I used one of the Yes Chef stamps designed by Jennifer Garant and stamped the chef on wheels in the center of my white cardstock circle. I then added some color to the design using Prima Markers and hand scripted the Eat, Drink and Be Merry message along the bottom.  A classic red and white diamond print ribbon finishes off the circle.

The last step was layering the plaid and stamped circles onto the front of the gift bag and adding a red pom-pom as my bow.

This fun gift bag is being filled with libations and treats and I know the person receiving this will definitely Eat, Drink & Be Merry!

If  you’re doing any holiday crafting this season, check of the full line of Craffiti Direct Stamps There are so many wonderful designs to choose from and right now they are running a 25% off sale on all stamps.

I’m using one of these stamps to make some of my holiday gift tags and this stamp to make some New Years party invites.  I’ll share those projects with you next week.

Happy Holiday Crafting!

Shelly

I was sent the stamps by Craffiti Direct for use in creating these projects.  All designs were by ConfettiStyle.

The Bells Will Be Ringing

Christmas is here and the Bells Will Be Ringing at my house!

IMG_7111 copy

One of my favorite signs of the holiday season is the sound of bells. There is just something about that little chime that makes the world seem more magical and the holiday season more endearing.

I often use jingle bells as part of my holiday décor must like I did in 2011 with the DIY ornaments I made.

Christmas 2011

This year I decided to get crafty and create a Jingle Bell Holiday Door Hanger.  Every time the door opens I hear the bells ring and feel the spirit of the season come alive.

To make my Jingle Bell Door Hanger I used the following supplies:

Jute Webbing (available at Hobby Lobby)
Small Embroidery Ring
Copper Jingle Bells
Holly and Berry Candle Rings (available at Hobby Lobby)
Ant. Bronze Brads (purchased at Michael’s)

IMG_7117

Paint your embroidery hoop red
Cut webbing to desired length
Loop top of webbing around the embroidery hoop and secure with brads
Cut candle rings so the ring can be opened wide
Glue candle ring to top of embroidery hoop
Hot glue bells down center of webbing

Hang your door hanger and listen for the magic of Christmas!

Holiday Tip:  This jute webbing is also great to wrap around boxes for a simple holiday gift wrap.

A Holiday Message (in the making)

Happy Monday!
Thanksgiving is just a few days away and I don’t know about you but I’m looking forward to a day to just relax and kick back. I’m working hard to get a few projects complete by Wednesday so I can spend Thursday feasting, watching movies and catching up on some magazine reading.
One of  the holiday projects I’m working on involves a chalkboard. I want to write a holiday quote the large chalkboard I have but I can’t decide what to write.  I’d love to have you help me decide so take a look at some of the designs I’m considering and leave a quick comment letting me know what you favorite image is.

Best of Etsy: FOXY Gift Guide

Last year it was the Owl. This year the icon of the fall and holiday season is the FOX!  Target made a big statement with fox merchandise for the holiday season and it seems to be selling quickly.  Hum, wonder if it has anything to do what that song that is topping the music charts?

I happen to love all the fox products the stores are selling but wondered what great hand-made or vintage fox items we available on Etsy.  So, I do what I do best and went shopping for you.  I rounded up my favorite fox themed items and are bringing them to you in the first of my Holiday Gift Guides!
Enjoy and stay foxy!

Christmas DIY: Jingle Bell Ribbon

In my world, when I come across an idea my first thought is not where can I buy that.  My first thought is usually ‘how can I make that?’
When I started thinking about my Christmas décor and began writing down ideas in my ideas book, I knew I wanted to craft a lot of what I’d be decorating with this year.
While at the Country Living Fair in October I spotted this burlap ribbon with jingle bells and knew I wanted to recreate the look for my tree.
