Fall Bed Linen Refresh

IMG_0141

Every season I do a little refresh of the bed linens on our bed.  I like to change things up a bit to  reflect the colors of the season and how I’m feeling.

With the onset of fall it was time for the pink and red pillows to move out and rich, warm colors to move in.

Nate Berkus Fabrics at JoAnn

I love that so many top designers are partnering with big box retail stores and making their product accessible to the masses.  Nate Berkus has definitely hit a home run with his home decor line at Target and now a selection of custom fabric designs are available at JoAnn Fabric.

joann14

Like most of Nate’s products, the patterns in the Nate Berkus fabric line available at JoAnn’s have a fresh and modern feel and come in classic colors.

There are 20 pattern/color options and the prices range from $9.99 to $27.99 per yard.

After taking a look at the fabric line, I got to thinking about how I’d use my favorite styles.  Here’s the inspiration that Nate inspired…

Slide1

I’m a big fan of yellow when it comes to decorating and this Ameil Dot Paramount pattern in citrus is just begging to go on a pair of stylish X benches.  I envision them at the foot of a bed or placed under a white console table in a foyer.

Slide2

I love fabric headboards but I’m ready to see less solid colored linen and more patternwork.  The ethnic modern feel of the Linea Paramount pattern would be a fun way to dress up a softly shaped headboard.

Slide3

Bold prints are one of my favorite decor statements and the colors and design of this Timur Sussex in Ginger is a statement pattern.  I can see a pair of tufted chairs in this fabric, paired with a stately leather sofa and sisal rug.  Oh, I’d add in a couple of brass end tables for that something shiny that I think every room needs.

Slide4

Close your eyes and imagine this curved back arm lounge chair upholstered in this seastone colorway of the Dari Mosaic Paramount fabric.  Prop your feet up on an ottoman and you’ll have a perfect spot to relax and rewind.

Slide5

This Indre Lynwood pattern is one of my favorites in the entire line and I’d love to upholster a classic bench with bolster pillows in this ginger color.  This pattern is also available in navy and dove grey which make it versatile enough for just about anything you can imagine.

While I’m on the subject of Nate, have you checked out his new collection at Target?  The pillows in this collection are on the top of my list…

So which one of Nate’s fabrics is your favorite?

Trend Alert: Tortoise Shells

Ever since Nate Berkus introduced that tortoise shell wall decor piece in his line for Target and it sold out in a flash, tortoise shells have been a hot design accent.  I love the eclectic feel they add to a room and that they can be hung on a wall or used on a table surface. In most cases it is illegal to capture and acquire a real tortoise so almost all of what you see on for sale on the internet is faux which is OK in my book.

Another Reason to Love Target

Just when I thought Target was the end-all, be-all I discovered they carried wallpaper.  Not just any wallpaper mind you but removable, repositionable wallpaper.  Removable, repositionable wallpaper opens up all kinds of decorating possibilities for anyone that wants to add a decorative wall treatment to their home but doesn’t want to invest the time or money to put up traditional wallpaper.

While the selection of wallpaper is not vast, the patterns are classic and the color options are on-trend and versatile.  In total there are 6 patterns and 16 colorways to choose from and each roll of wallpaper is s 20″ w X 16.5′ long.

Here’s the line-up of my favorite patterns….

This classic lattice pattern is the perfect bold accent for an accent wall, foyer or powder room– Black and White Cable

Also available in this pond and gold colorway–Cable in Pond.

And Cable in Starlight

I know a lot of people are over chevron patterns but they are still a popular design statement.  The chevron wallpaper that Target sells is available in several colors–Zig Zag in Mirage

If you like a more traditional look, the Chantilly in Blossom might work for you.  This classic damask pattern in also available in yellow and brown.

15084267_201401162125

I love this modern pattern, perfect for casual living space, bedroom or laundry room–Diamond in Twig

Also available is the soft seafoam color–Diamond in Horizon

15025199_Alt01_201401161215

Solid wallpapers with a subtle pattern or texture are perfect to foyers, hallways or powder room.  This pattern,  Weave in Compass and Gold is a classic pattern in a unique colorway.

As I mentioned, there are so many places that removable wallpaper can be used in your home and if you rent, wallpaper is the perfect solution for adding a style punch to your decor.

Here’s a little inspiration…

Wallpaper can make a small and mundane kitchen come to life.

If you’re adventurous, you can add a style statement to your stairs with wallpaper.

I love the idea of dressing up an old piece of furniture.  Removable wallpaper would be a great way to give Ikea furniture a bit more personality.

I’m always a fan of bookcases with a decorative back and removable wallpaper is an easy way to get this look.

And the classic black and white cable pattern that Target sells you give you the feel of this look and is perfect for a bedroom accent wall.

What to Get Mom for Mother’s Day?

Greetings!  I hope you had a great weekend!  My weekend started off awesome and ended the same way so I have nothing to complain about.  The sunny skies and warm weather were an added bonus.

Did you get out and do any shopping this weekend? Maybe looking for a Mother’s Day gift like me?

If you were out and about you probably noticed that a lot of stores have spring sales going on now. It’s a great time to pick up spring fashion accessories, home décor accents and spring footwear.

If you follow me on Instagram (which I hope you do), you saw that I mentioned the buy one, get one 50% off accessory sale at Target. There are some really great pieces that would make fab Mother’s Day gifts.

How about a pretty scarf for mom ($14.99)…

or maybe a summer tote bag ($34.99)!

15065995_201402201202

I spotted several scarves and summer totes I wanted for myself but after getting the “not another handbag” look from the hubs I decided a trip on my own was in order so I’m heading back today to do some more looking.

Another store I popped into over the weekend was C. Wonder.  You all know I love that store!  They have their additional 50% off sale going on now and if you or your mom loves monograms you don’t want to miss this.

This monogram iPhone case is $24.99 less 50% and every letter is a different color combo.  I couldn’t pass up the ‘S’ since it was my favorite color combo–red, white and gold.

I know my mom would love a monogrammed mug paired with her favorite tea.  The mug is $7.99 less 50%. You can’t beat that and it’s never to early to start thinking about Christmas gifts too!

7950_106_1_P

This monogram pillow cover is gorgeous in person and I wish I would have found an M but no go.  $29.99 less 50%.

9598_905_1_A

If you’ve wanted one of the classic C Wonder nylon totes, now is the time to snag one on sale.  Not all the sizes are on sale but the mini and Easy tote sizes are.  Mini–$44.99 and the Easy tote is $59.99 less 50%.  You can also get the bag monogrammed for an extra $10. What mom wouldn’t love this?

If your mom loves to entertain, she’ll love these fun herringbone coasters Set of 4 for $34.99 less 50%.

100029855_4122_1

And I love this Trellis print travel case for $49.99 less 50%.  There are more sizes available too!

Mother’s Day is fast approaching and I need to get my gift wrapped and in the mail.  Come back tomorrow and I’ll show you a fun and easy gift wrapping idea your mom will  love.

Too Much Time Indoors Requires Retail Theraphy

I think everyone in the world is aware of the snow storm and the traffic nightmare that pushed Atlanta into a tailspin the last few days but most people are not aware of what being cooped for the better part of  three days does to use creative types.  The hubby and I ventured out yesterday on foot and walked about 3 miles round trip to the grocery store.  I was going stir crazy indoors and needed some visual simulation and Publix was my only option.  Today after the sun came out and the streets were looking pretty good we decided to get in the car and see what stores were open so I could get some more visual stimulation and indulge in a little retail therapy.

First stop Wal-Mart!  The parking lot was jammed packed (like no parking spots) so we decided to head to Target instead.  Bingo!  Target was practically empty and even better the shelves were loaded with lots of clearance items!  (if you live in Atlanta, I was at the Buckhead store across from Phipps Plaza)

The gorgeous glass candle holders came in two sizes. $4.98 and $6.48

IMG_4877

If you love to entertain and create beautiful table settings now is the time to stock up on table linens.  There were lots of great patterns, available in tablecloths and napkins.  Many of the tablecloth patterns like these below could also be use for window curtains or decorative shower curtains.  The beauties were only $ 6.48!

IMG_4873

This metal drum table was another great item I spotted.  I think the clearance price was $59.99.  It would be great painted or as one of my Instagram followers suggested, it could be used in an outdoor setting with a light place underneath it to shine through the holes.

IMG_4875

When you’re at Target be sure to check out the new Threshold line.  It’s great!

Next we stopped at Old Navy (don’t know why)….nothing happening there and the store was looking pretty lean on inventory.

We popped into Nordstrom Rack and I did a little shoe shopping.  Check. It.Out.  There are some real bargains!

IMG_4879

I snagged a pair of classic Converse sneakers.

IMG_4881

Our last stop was Marshalls.  Clothing, shoes and accessories were a little lean but the home décor department had it going on.  The shelves were full and there were lots of really great pieces to check out.

I loved this wood chair.   It was marked down from $180 to $69.99.

IMG_4890

Cute picture frame.

IMG_4888

This green jar made it into my cart.

IMG_4887

Fabulous lamp (would look even better with a black lampshade)!

IMG_4895

LOVED this chair.  It was comfy, had great details and the fabric was really nice.  A pair of these would look great in an office for living room.

IMG_4886

The hubby liked this chair better because of its high back.  I did love the fabric and nailhead trim but the high back was not comfy to me.

IMG_4883

These reclaimed wood table with the metal trim were so beautiful.

IMG_4891

I want this wood trunk.  It’s the perfect size for a side table or to place under a console table.

IMG_4882

Classic woven top bench.

IMG_4892

This grey linen sofa was really chic.  It was long (perfect for napping) and really comfortable.

IMG_4889

And these linen bar stools were also nice.

IMG_4893

Even though I needed should have been home cleaning and working on my super long to-do list, getting out and doing a little retail therapy was just what I needed to get the pep back into my step.

p.s.  The dollar spot at Target also has some fun Valentines and paper goods you might want to check out.

Happy Shopping!

Best of Etsy: FOXY Gift Guide

Last year it was the Owl. This year the icon of the fall and holiday season is the FOX!  Target made a big statement with fox merchandise for the holiday season and it seems to be selling quickly.  Hum, wonder if it has anything to do what that song that is topping the music charts?

I happen to love all the fox products the stores are selling but wondered what great hand-made or vintage fox items we available on Etsy.  So, I do what I do best and went shopping for you.  I rounded up my favorite fox themed items and are bringing them to you in the first of my Holiday Gift Guides!
Enjoy and stay foxy!
