Weekend Wrap-up: Inspiring Ideas-Vol. 8

Happy weekend friends.  It’s been a busy week in my neck of the woods.  I’ve been working on client projects, shopping for my mom’s new place and we’ve been installing some new light fixtures in our abode.  All good stuff but I’ve been on busy beaver.

I just wanted to pop in today and share a few fabulous finds and style inspiration.  Enjoy!

*****

Entertaining & Organizing Inspiration…

I was literally drooling when Courtney at Pizzazzerie shared her prop room.  Did you see it?  It is truly AMAZING!!!! I loved seeing all of the tabletop pieces she’s collected over the years and uses in her stunning tablescapes.  Now I think I need to start collecting cake plates and definitely need more dinner napkins!   You can tour the entire space here.

On My Shopping List…

I am usually all in when it comes to shopping but I have to admit that I’m not all that enthusiastic about the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale.  I think every blogger in America (minus me) is sharing a round-up of their favorite fall picks.  Even though I’m nowhere near ready to start buying fall clothes, I did take a quick look on the site and found a few items that I think are perfect to use now.

I’m a big fan of Voluspa candles and this trio of small tin candles can’t be beat for $15.90. The tins are the perfect size to use in a bathroom or guest bedroom and they also make a great gift.  You might want to stock up now for holiday stocking stuffers.

The Bauble Bar Genevieve Hoop Earrings are jus darling.  With every color in the rainbow included, you could easily wear these with something dressy or pair them with jeans and tee.  And they are just $24.90!

This.Is.Such.A.Cute.Bag!  While most of the handbags I own are on the larger size, I adore this Leith Bicolor Faux Leather Cylinder Bag.  It’s the perfect weekend bag for shopping and jotting around town. And the color combo is a nice change from black.

Entertaining Inspiration…

In case you missed it, I co-hosted a Backyard Bash Blog Hop this week with a few blogging friends.  We shared loads of entertaining inspiration, tips and ideas so be sure to check out everyone’s post.  I’ve listed the participating bloggers below.Weekend Wrap-up by ConfettiStyle

Design Inspiration…

The Pinterest rabbit hole lead me to the portfolio of interior designer Lauren Muse.  Her work is stunning.  If you’re looking for some design inspiration to fuel your next home project, check out her portfolio here.

Thanks for following the blog.  I’m off to check a few more house projects off the list.

I’ll see you back here on Monday with a tour of the new Ballard Designs store here in Atlanta.

Tassel Obsessed–One of my favorite details

Is there a certain design detail that you’re kind of obsessed with?  It might be floral patterns or maybe it’s mercury glass finishes.  For me that one design detail that I just can’t seem to get enough of is Tassels.  I’ve been crazy about tassels for years and when I opened my home decor store back in 2003, I even named it to reflect my love for tassel–The Scarlet Tassel.  I closed my store in 2011 but tassels continue to be one of may favorite decor and fashion accessories.

A recent round of online shopping turned up lots of great tassel adorned decor and fashion.  I knew you would never forgive me if I didn’t share it all with you so here, my friends are a load of tassel goodies.

Tassel Decor and Fashion Accessories Tassel Decor and Fashion Accessories

TASSEL MUST-HAVES:

I’m actively starting to shop for spring and summer shoes and these suede tassel loafers are on the list.  I love the bold color and stylish black tassel charms.  You’ll want to grab a pair of the fast because I know they will sell out.  p.s they are currently on sale for $79.88 and also come in a brown toffee color.

Pillows are one of the easiest and budget friendly ways to update your decor from one season to the next.  This Kate Spade Tassel Pillow would look great on a sofa or as an accent on a bed.  There are 2 yummy solid colors to choose from as well as a boho inspired black and cream stripe.  $129

If you look around your house I’m sure you’ll spot  multiple places where this cute white stool with tassels could go.  It’s the perfect footstool next to a chair or as an accent next to the bed. $139.99

I’m a bit of a throw collector because I’m always cold.  This chic marled grey knit throw will work with any decor style and is perfect for spring and summer nights watching movies on the sofa.  And I’m pretty smitten with the $69 price tag too!

Is there such things as having too many tassel earrings.  The fashion trend is still going strong so I say why not add these tassel drop earrings to your fashion lineup.  They are also available in a blue colorway and will only set you back $38.

Several years ago I wrote a post about shopping at Pottery Barn Kids for fun decor pieces.  This adorable Boho Tassel Storage Tote is just one example of an item that bridges the gap between kids and adults.  It screams magazine basket or blankets storage to me.  There are two sizes available–Small: $39 and Large: $59.

I love dressing up a simple summer dress or t-shirt with bold jewelry like this Cardo Tassel Necklace ($52).  The combination of tassels, pom poms and black and white is definitely a winning combo.

Have you noticed that patterned bath rugs have been trending up for the last few years?  Rugs with an all-over pattern are a great way to add visual interest to a utilitarian space like a bath or laundry room.  This striped bath rug with tassels would be a fun option to give your decor a pop of color.  And it’s under $40…$39.99 to be exact.

This amazing Justina Blakeney Fela Tassel Chandelier  takes tassel decor to a whole new level.  What a statement piece for a living space, bedroom or office.  I love the natural color ($193.50) but also found it in navy here and in pink here.

And finally friends…what do you get when you pair a classic decor piece like a decorative box with a tassel, this set of 3 decorative boxes with tassels.   You could use these boxes stacked as shown or break them apart to decorate a coffee table, bookshelf or night stand.  The set is only $73.99 and is available in 8 gorgeous colors.

Anyone else have a tassel obsession?

Happy shopping.

Plus they are perfect for decorating during the holidays or anytime of the year. design tip: transform a decorative lantern into a flower vase by simply dropping a clear glass vase inside the lantern to hold flowers.

2 // Animal Print Velvet Pillow — I’ve seen this pillow at my local TJMaxx and its gorgeous.  It’s lush and the 22″ X 22″ size ($39.99) is perfect as an accent pillow on a sofa or bed. 4 // I used these Acrylic Candle Holders on a client’s fireplace mantel and they are stunning.  The brass base and acrylic stem create the perfect mix of traditional and modern styling.  Two sizes–small $34.00 and large $41.00.  design tip: using candle holders in different sizes will add depth and dimension to a candle arrangement.  But if your pair of candle holders are the same height, use pillars or taper candles in different heights to create the same dimensional effect.

CLASSIC DECOR GIFTS

5 //  Have you noticed how hard it is to find stylish bud vases?  Well, I’ve found the one!  This gorgeous Clear Mini Glass Vase is fluted and looks much more expensive than its $5.99 price.  design tip:  A grouping of single bud vases down the middle of dining table can have just a much impact as a large floral arrangement.  And bud vases are great at each individual place setting.

7 // There’s not much from Serena & Lily that I don’t love.  I’d use this Bedford Tray  as part of a coffee table arrangement.  $148.00  design tip:  if your tray has an open weave bottom, have a piece of clear acrylic cut to fit so the tray becomes functional for serving.

9 //  I just adore this blue and white Tassel Cachpot from Wayfair and hope Santa brings it my way for Christmas.  $159.99  design tip:  planters are not just for plants.  Oversized planters make great containers for magazine, blankets or towel storage in a bathroom.

10 // Magnifying glasses like the Zamora Magnifier Glass are a fun accessory to add to a coffee table or bookshelf vignette. And they are a good men’s gift too! $49.95  design tip:  group three or more  similar items together to create an instant collection.  Check out this grouping of magnifying glasses.

That’s it for today!  I’ll be back tomorrow for the finale of the Merry & Bright Holiday Home Tour so be sure to stop by.  I’ll be sharing the rest of my holiday decor with you.  Here’s a little sneak peek…

2017 ConfettiStyle Christmas Home Tour

The 5 Most Versatile Decorative Accessories You Can Own

One of the things I noticed when we were packing and again as we’ve been unpacking is that I have an overload of decorative accessories.  One reason for my ‘collection’ is a result of my profession as a designer and the other I blame on my need to change-up my decor on a regular basis.

As I’ve been unpacking, I’m trying to focus on keeping only those items that can be used in more than one area of my house and are the most versatile.  Taking the time to analyze each accessory got me thinking about which decor pieces I consider essential when it comes to decorating.   I’ve narrowed down the list to 5 items that I think are worth their weight in gold and wanted to share the list with you.

Decorative Boxes are not only pretty to look at but they are one of the most functional decor pieces you can own.  They can be used for storage, to contain clutter or simply as a decorative element on a tabletop or bookshelf.  One of my favorite uses for a decorative box is on a coffee table as part for a grouping of accessories. And you’ll always find a decorative box as part of my bedroom decor on my nightstand.

Ginger Jars were originally used to hold spices when they were being transported across Asia.  Today ginger jars are one of the most popular and trendy decor pieces around.  Because ginger jars are available in hundreds of different designs, colors and shapes, you can easily find a style that will work with your decor.  I’m partial to blue and white designs but love the impact that colorful ginger jars add to a room.  My favorite place to accessorize with large jars is on top of a bookcase or armoire, or next to a fireplace.  And I love using small jars on bookshelves or kitchen counters.

I didn’t realize how many Glass Hurricanes I owned until I started packing for our move.  I own clear glass hurricanes in a variety of sizes and recently added a pair to tortoise hurricanes to my stash.  I’m always burning candles in my home so I use small hurricanes throughout the year to hold candles so the flame is contained (learned that trick from Anthropologie).  And during the holidays, I love using large hurricanes to hold ornaments or other holiday decor.  And a hurricane makes a great vase for flowers or greenery stems.

I think the next item on my list is a pretty obvious one. A Decorative Tray is an essential decor piece and one that I think belongs in every home.  Like ginger jars, trays come in all shapes, sizes and colors which makes decorating with them easy.  On a nightstand, a tray can be used to hold jewelry and bedtime essentials.  And on a coffee table, a tray adds a layer of style for holding smaller objects like candles, decorative objects or books.

I must admit that I have a bit of an obsession with Decorative Bowls.  Silver bowls, chinoiserie themed ceramic bowls and rustic bowls are my favorites for decorating.  If you’re looking for an impact statement on your coffee or console table, a large bowl filled with decorative spheres or flowers is nice.  And small bowls are a stylish way to hold matchboxes or trinkets on a tabletop.

The details are not the details, they make the design!

When it comes to decorative accessories, not all decor pieces are created equal.  There are some accessories that are classic, timeless and stand the test of time against design trends.

So what do you think of my list of essential decorative accessories?  Is there an item or two that you’d add?

p.s.  if I were to add another item, it would be books!

Home Tour: A French Provencal Farmhouse In Atlanta

One of the things we love to do on the weekend is to head out for a drive and explore new areas of Atlanta.  Even though we’ve lived  in Atlanta for 17 years, there are still so many areas and neighborhoods that we have never visited.

Our afternoon drives usually include lunch at a new-to-us restaurant and lots of oohing and awing at all of the beautiful houses in Atlanta.  From mansions to small homes, the city is filled with some of the most charming properties I’ve ever seen. Last weekend we spotted a gorgeous home in Buckhead even though we couldn’t get a close up look without trespassing, I knew this house was amazing.  The house happened to be for sale so I did a quick search and found the listing photos.  Are you ready for a virtual tour?  Hold your horses because this French provencal farmhouse is gorgeous!!!

Atlanta Farmhouse in Buckhead

Just check out the entrance to the house.  The tree lined gravel driveway and the lush landscaping is breathtaking.  FYI–it’s very common here in Atlanta to see light illuminating trees around a property.  #sosouthern

Can you imagine hanging out on this lawn during the summer–crochet anyone?

And then when night falls this fire pit is the perfect spot to watch the sunset.

No words for the stunning French inspired garden!

I’m in love with this covered patio and check out the glass panel behind the chair that serves as a wall.  #designdetails

Just give me a flamingo pool float and a cocktail and I’m all set to spend all day at this pool.  Anyone else want to know what’s in that stone outhouse behind the pool?  My guess is a potty and shower.

Let’s move indoors.  You’d think the stone floors, whitewashed wood stairs and neutral color palette would feel cold but I just love the European charm of this foyer.

The main living room in this farmhouse has beautiful wood beams and a massive fireplace.

fyi–even in a mansion, curtain rods should be hung as high as possible

Living space #2. Maybe the most beautiful reclaimed wood floors I’ve ever seen. And that metal bookshelf behind the sofa is so unique.

Living room #3 has high-gloss black paneled walls that are breathtaking.

The sitting area off the master bed/bathroom really makes a statement.  Love the barn doors, wood window casing and black slate floors.

Gorgeous master bedroom with wood planked ceilings and those herringbone floors again.

Every master bedroom needs a sitting area to enjoy your morning coffee or tea.

.The closet in the master bedroom is the closet of my dreams although there might be one too many mirrors for my liking.

Just like the rest of the house, the kitchen is expansive with a rough luxe design style.  That arched metal framed door is a beauty.

The dining room is pretty charming with grey washed wood paneling and stone floors.  The chandelier looks like an art piece and really makes a statement in the dining room.

Here are a couple of the guest bedrooms.

And the upstairs family room/game room looks like a great spot for lounging or entertaining.  The wood beams and white walls keep the space from being dark and drab.

For all you wine lovers, here’s a wine cellar to admire.

Atlanta Farmhouse in Buckhead

And just in case you needed one more fun space to hang out, how about a basketball court?!

Atlanta Farmhouse in Buckhead

Designed by William Litchfield, this beautiful home was inspired by a 17th-century French Provencal farmhouse.  The house sits on 4.2 acres of land and has 5 bedrooms/ 7 full bathrooms / 4 half baths and a total of 9955 sq. feet.

This beautiful home is located in the Buckhead area of Atlanta and can be yours for just under $10 million.  You can see more of this beautiful home here.

Happy Monday & my latest vintage finds!

Hey there friends.  I hope the day started off great for you.  Between Day Light Savings Time and insomnia, I woke up feeling gloomy.  After getting dressed, I did some mediation followed by a cup of tea and those two things helped me refocus and re-energize.

I’ve meditated on and off over the years but after getting away from it I’m trying hard to make it a daily practice.  It really does make a difference in how I manage my day and most importantly how I feel. If you’ve never tried mediation, here’s a great article that outlines 8 Way Meditation Can Improve Your Life.

Now on to the fun stuff…

Over the weekend I did sneak in some time to hit up one of my favorite antique stores.  I haven’t had time to go antique shopping lately so I took my time walking the aisles of the store.   Here are a few things I found.

The last few months, I’ve  been selling lots of Ironstone in my Etsy shop so I’m on the hunt for some new pieces.  This sugar jar was a great find and I love the design.

I already own one of these mini blue and white garden stools so this one will go in my shop.  It would look great on bookshelf as a bookend.

The pattern on this creamer grabbed my attention and I love the design of the handle.

Vintage Blue and White Creamer

This large blue and white floral pitcher was just sitting in the corner waiting for me.  Sell or not to sell…that is the question?

I purchased a similar elephant the last time I was in Oklahoma for my Etsy shop so I didn’t hesitate when I saw this one.  I’m going to keep it and use it as a perch to hold a plant or stack of books.

Did anyone else go thrifting over the weekend and if so, what did you find?
