I’m Ready To Party

The holiday party season is here and my calendar is filling up with events and Christmas parties to attend.  So naturally I’ve begun to think about what I’m going to wear to all these festive occasions.
When it come to party attire, I have some basic rules I like to follow, rules that allow me to easily pull together an outfit, perfect for any party occasion.

Here are my “Holiday Wardrobe Rules” & a few of my favorite holiday finds.

1.  Wear Your Favorite Color–I don’t know about you, but when I wear my favorite color I am automatically in a happy mood.  My spirits are lifted and I feel great. So, a little something red is on my wardrobe list this holiday.
2.  Wear Something That Sparkles–Whether it’s a handbag, sweater, earrings or a scarf, the holidays call for something with a bit of bling.  Right now, I am so over-the-top in love with sequined sweaters and tops.  I love how an embellished sweater paired with a pair of dark denim is all it take to make a splash.
3.  Long Earrings are Lushish–I tend to wear long earrings anyway, but during the holidays, I think a pair of long, dangling earrings are a must.  Go for something colorful or beaded for a bit of added glam.
4.   Make a Statement with your Handbag–This time of year, I tend to pull out my clutch handbags and use them more often.  There’s something so feminine and classic about a pretty clutch during the holidays.
5.  Don’t sacrifice Warmth for Pretty–I am one of those people who are always cold, so the current fashion trend of fur embellishments are right up my alley.  I love a sweater with a fur collar or how a fur scarf can dress up a plain outfit.
6.  Flash Your Footwear–The holidays are a great time to pull out that special pair to footwear and dress up a plain pair of  black pants or jeans.

Eat, Drink & Be Merry

We’ll, Thanksgiving is tomorrow and I don’t know about you, but I am really looking forward to getting together with family, sharing a great meal and just plain relaxing.  Come Friday, the flood gates will open and I’ll transform into one of Santa’s elves, traveling around Atlanta, decorating homes for the Christmas season and trying to keep the store looking festive at every turn.

Despite how busy I’ll be, this is my favorite time of the year, and I have lots of  holiday Decorating, Entertaining, Fashion and Gift Giving ideas that I’ll be sharing with you daily, here on my blog. And, you don’t want to miss the great DIY projects I have coming.

So, until Friday, have a wonderful Thanksgiving with your Family and Friends, and remember to GIVE THANKS for every little thing in your life!

Gifted–A Holiday Gift Guide

I just finished up a full weekend of teaching holiday decorating classes at my store and decorated  the first of many homes I have scheduled over the next month, so needless to say, I have Christmas ( and a bit of glitter) on the brain.

On the personal home front, I’m slowly moving into full gear, beginning to decorate my home and flushing out my holiday gift list.  When it comes to gift shopping, I do a pretty good job, but am always looking for help and suggestions wherever I can get them.  So, you can image how excited I was when I stumbled across GIFTED, a fabulous on-line holiday magazine and gift guide.

GIFTED was developed by EZ of  Creature Comforts and is full of DIY projects, gift suggestions, fashion advice and blogger interviews. So, before you begin stressing out about the upcoming holidays and all there is to do, take a moment to flip through GIFTED and be inspired to make the most of your holiday season!

INSPIRATIONAL INTERIOR

Diane Vonfurstenberg’s Library via

With so many new design and fashion books hitting the market this month, I’m dreaming of a being stowed away for about a month in a relaxing and gorgeous library like this.  If you love books as much as I do, check out my post here, on all the new reads hitting the shelves of your local bookstore!

Silhouette Portraits

Something old is new again.

I am loving the use of classic, old-time silhouette portraits in home decor these days.  Dating back to the 18th century, silhouette portraits were the classic way of representing a persons appearance. Today, I think silhouette portraits are a really cool way to infuse a graphic element into your wall decor arrangement or even your fashion  statement.  Check out these great images…

Silhouette images don’t have to be of just a person.  I love images of fashion, furniture and objects done in silhouette.

I love the vintage look of these silhouette necklace.

If you are a DIY person, here’s a great tutorial on how to make your own silhouette portrait.  If not, check out the Etsy site Pretty Faces, where Jackie, a very talented silhouette artist will make a portrait for you.

Happy Friday!  Have a great weekend!
