The Bedroom Reveal | Fall 2019 One Room Challenge

It’s hard to believe that six weeks ago the One Room Challenge started and now we are at the finish line with reveal day.  The last 5 weeks have been a blur with lots of projects completed as we transformed our master bedroom.  I am thrilled with how the room turned out and excited to share it with you today.  To get caught up on the progress up to today, click the links at the end of this post.

Before I share all of the pretty pictures, I want to remind you of where the room started.  We moved into our townhome about two years ago and while I’ve gotten most of the house decorated, our master bedroom was a bland box.  We purchased the armoire when we lived in Seattle and after moving to Atlanta we painted it black. The bed, dresser and bamboo nightstand were purchased here in Atlanta.

Here are some before photos of the room (yikes)….

And in five weeks the room was transformed into this this beauty…

One Room Challenge: Hiccups & Accomplishments

https://www.oneroomchallenge.com/orc-blog

I’m back today with another installment of the Fall 2019 One Room Challenge.  Today marks Week 4 of the challenge which means there are only two more weeks until reveal time.  If you need to catch up on the previous posts in the series, you can find them here…

If you want the background on the One Room Challenge, you can learn about it here.

THE HICCUPS

Unlike last week when everything was moving along smoothly, there have been a couple of hiccups this week.

First…all of the curtain rods I ordered have not shipped.  When I placed the order everything was in stock.  I was told the rods would ship on/before 10/15.  So far I’ve received notice that one rod shipped but the other rods are MIA. I called the company on Monday and was told the outstanding rods are in stock but are pending shipping.  When pressed for an estimated ship date, I was given a vague answer.  Needless to say I’m a little skeptical as to whether I’ll receive them so I’ve already begun shopping for back-up rods.

ONE ROOM CHALLENGE UPDATE--Curtain Rod Options

The next hiccup I’ve run into is with my bedding.  I ordered a quilt set but after getting it, I don’t like the pattern (see below). This pattern is a little too pronounced and I want something with a more subtle pattern or texture.  Back to the drawing board.  I’m attending preview event for another new HomeGoods that’s opening near me on Friday and I’m hoping I can find a quilt there. #gofinding

FYI– If you’re looking for a quilt set with a feminine feel, I would recommend my original selection.  The price is amazing and the color choices are all good.

ONE ROOM CHALLENGE UPDATE--Bedding Fail

The final challenge I ran into last week has to do with the artwork I planned around the TV.  After getting the TV hung, I don’t think I’m going to be able to hang the frames like I wanted.  I still want to hang something decorative on the TV wall but am now relooking my options.

THE ACCOMPLISHMENTS

Hiccups aside, there were a few of things I did accomplish last week.

We took the ceiling fan down, installed the ceiling accent and hung the chandelier.  Shortly after moving into our townhouse I knew I wanted to replace the ceiling fan in the bedroom.  Two years later I finally convinced Mr. Confetti and we now have a beautiful chandelier hanging over our bed. Here’s a sneak peek…

ONE ROOM CHALLENGE UPDATE-Bedroom Chandelier

I can also check a vintage chair off the shopping list.  I popped into a small thrift store and spotted this lovely cane chair.  It is really sturdy, the cane is in good condition and it was only $12.  #thriftscore

Since there is already a lot of stained wood in the bedroom, I’m planning to give the chair a little facelift with paint and maybe a decorative cushion or pillow.  This isn’t a chair we are planning to sit on so it is really a decorative accent in the room.

ONE ROOM CHALLENGE Vintage Chair Find

There’s still quite a bit to be done before I can call the One Room Challenge complete but I’m hoping to get a lot of things done this weekend.  I’m planning to hang the wallpaper (I love the pattern I picked), paint the chair and fingers crossed…hang the curtain rod and curtains. Here’s my updated shopping and project list:

Mood Board & Indecision | Week 2 One Room Challenge-Fal 2019

Fall 2019 One Room Challenge

Hello and Happy Thursday!  I hope you’re having a fantastic week!

I have been all over the board this week, working on a design project, creating ribbon craft projects for a client and  trying to make final decisions for the One Room Challenge (ORC).  And in case you missed it, last week I shared before photos of our master bedroom and my vision for the space. You can catch up with Week 1 of the ORC here.

Now that we are in week 2 of the challenge, I’m excited because today I’m sharing the inspiration board for my space.  But, before I do that here’s another look at my vision for the makeover.

ConfettiStyle Project List-Fall One Room Challenge

With my vision outlined, I created my mood board and was ready to start ordering the final pieces I need for the room.  Then I hit a hurdle with the wallpaper.

I’ve had two different wallpaper samples hanging up on the wall for weeks and thought I had made a decision on which one I was going with.

My initial choice was this pretty floral design in pink, grey and gold.  I love the bold pattern, soft colors and how well the pattern works with the bed, brass finishes and accents of black.  Mr. Confetti really likes this wallpaper too which had me convinced.

Here’s my initial mood board design which I’m calling Pretty In Pink…

MOOD BOARD #1

Pretty In Pink Bedroom Mood Board--Fall One Room Challenge by ConfettiStyle

Then I began to give the other wallpaper design a little more consideration and found myself  gravitating towards it.

This design is still soft and pretty but with a little more whimsy and pops of color. I love the looseness of the pattern and the dark background which will add more depth to the room. And there are gold/tan accents in the design so the brass elements work with this pattern too.

One of the reasons I find myself gravitating towards this design a bit more is because I think it relates better to the other rooms in my house.

Here’s the second mood board I created which I’m calling Whimsical Vines…

MOOD BOARD #2

Whimsical Vines Bedroom Mood Board--Fall One Room Challenge by ConfettiStyle

Design Tip:Not every room in your home needs to have the same design aesthetic.  But there should be some common threads that runs throughout your decor that makes it relate–design style, finishes or accent colors.

Most of the elements on each mood board are the same with the exception of the wallpaper, curtains and maybe the bedding.  The room will incorporate brass accents, different shades of grey and my favorite animal print.  I think both concepts check all the boxes for the vision I have for the space.

Decisions, decisions!

♦♦♦

WHAT’S YOUR PICK?

So friends, I need your help picking the wallpaper design.  I’d really appreciate it if you’d leave a comment here or on Instagram and let me know what design you like best.  I’m hoping to make a final decision by Monday.  Here’s a snapshot of the wallpaper patterns, colors and elements from each mood board to help you pick a winner.

Is it Pretty In Pink?

Or Whimsical Vines?

While the decision is being made, I’m going to continue to chip away at my project list.  So far I’ve got the rug in place, bench to upholsterer, scheduled the TV installation and finished painting. Week 3, I’m ready for you!

FYI–I’ll be sharing all of the sources for the items I’m using in the room during the Week 6 reveal.

Adexe Watches | Handmade Timepieces

Adexe Watches--Watch Review by ConfettiStyle

As someone who is always on the go and a stickler for being on time, I always wear a watch.  In fact, a stylish watch is one of my essential fashion accessories.  Over the past few months I’ve been fortunate to add a couple of new watches to my jewelry collection. My newest watch has quickly become a favorite and one that I wear on a daily basis.

Recently, Adexe Watches reached out to me with an opportunity to review one of their classic timepieces.  I wasn’t familiar with the Adexe brand but after some research I knew I wanted to collaborate with the company.

Adexe is a London, UK based company that has been making watches since 2015.  Founded by a father and daughter team, the company is known for creating uniquely appointed timepieces at affordable prices.  All of the watches feature a curved, hardened crystal glass dome that enhances the clarity of the watch face.

Design Is In The Details

Another feature that makes Adexe watches so special is that every watch is created by hand. The watch faces are made in-house by professional glass makers who layer, cut and mold the crystal glass into  various shapes.  All of the watch straps are made from Italian leather or hand-polished stainless steel mesh and designed to enhance each unique timepiece.

After looking through the entire Adexe watch collection, I choose the Foreseer Grande Silver.  The oversized watch face, polished stainless steel band and multi-function dial where what drew me to this watch. My fashion style is classic with and bit of flair so this watch compliments my personal style to a T.

When I received my watch, I was excited to see that included in the box were tools so I could adjust the length of the strap to fit my wrist.  I headed to the Adexe website and watched the short videos they created which walked me through the simple steps of adjusting my watch band.  Added Bonus..All Adexe Watches come to with a pair of pre-set extra straps in black or brown colour so you can change the look of your watch to fit your wardrobe.  There is also a video that shows you how to change your mesh band to the leather strap.

Watch Review by ConfettiStyle

I’ve been wearing my watch for several weeks and love the look at fit.  The band is comfortable and the dial is easy to read.  I know I’ll enjoy this watch for many years to come.

Easter Tablescape | A Colorful Twist On Tradition

Bold and Colorful Easter Tablescape from ConfettiStyle

Happy Friday friends! Today’s the day that I’m sharing my fun and colorful Easter tablescape with you.  I had so much fun creating this table decor and this just might be one of my favorites of all times.

The inspiration for my table started when I was organizing my table linens.  First I pulled out the table runner that Boho Luxe Home made for me for the 2017 Merry & Bright Holiday Home Tour.  You can see how I styled the runner for Christmas here.  Then I pulled out a navy and white plaid tablecloth I got from HomeGoods. I put the two patterns together and that’s when the full vision of my table came to life.

Here’s my 2018 Easter tablescape…

Easter and spring tablescapes traditionally use pastels and soft colors, but my table puts a brighter and more colorful twist on Easter tradition.

For the place settings, I combined white plates, vintage Blue Willow plates and small blue & white bread plaid plates.  I used woven placemats and bamboo silverware  to add a more casual element to the table. The texture and darker tones are a nice contrast against to all the formal elements on the table.

p.s.  this bamboo silverware is my absolute favorite and is such a great deal.  You can snag a set or two of your own here

I created a really fun and unusual centerpiece using this adorable resin rabbit I found at HomeGoods. When I saw him, I knew he needed to come home with me.

I sat the rabbit in the center of a pedestal bowl that I had and added flower stems to fill the bowl and the bunnies basket.

I added two blue & white ginger jars to the table along with a couple of small ceramic rabbits. And to make my tablescape even more “Eastery”, I filled tea cups with Easter grass and foil-wrapped chocolate eggs.

Instead of using a single color dinner napkin, I layered two colors together and added a brass napkin rings. You can check out the creative way I store my linen napkins here.

I just love the way my tablescape turned out.  It’s so colorful and whimsical and of course has a little touch of chinoiserie which I love.

Now that my Easter table is done I’m going to start working on making Easter baskets. I’ll be sure to share them with you when I’m all done.

Bookshelf Styling | Under $50 Facelift

Bookshelf Refresh by ConfettiStyle

We’ve been in our house for almost two years and I am slowly checking off my decorating list.  The bookshelves were at the top of my list when we moved in and needed a facelift.  There are two sets of shelves flanking the fireplace and when we moved in they were stained dark. The contrast between the bookshelf and wall was so stark and a real eyesore.   They needed to flow with the wall and be brightened up.

 Before…

 After…

I had the bookshelves painted in my go-to white, Benjamin Moore Simply White and it made such a difference.  Here’s a picture from Christmas with the shelves white and fully decorated.

After Christmas I looked at the bookshelves and felt like they were still a little flat.  They needed more color so I thought about painting the back wall a bold color.  I also considered wallpaper and looked at a few bold patterns but everything seemed to fight with the accessories and my floral ottomans.  Then I considered a textured wallpaper and grasscloth was the perfect solution.  It added just the right amount of color and texture to the shelves to bring them to life.

I lined the back of each bookshelf with this peel-n-stick navy poplin texture wallpaper (affiliate link).  Because it’s peel-and-stick, it can easily be removed when the mood strikes and I want to change the look.  And a single roll was only $45.

Bookshelf Refresh by ConfettiStyle

The wallpaper resembles a tweed fabric and has a really nice texture.  I also like how the subtle pattern and color enhance all of my blue and white accessories.

Bookshelf Refresh by ConfettiStyle

It took me and Mr. Confetti about an hour to install the paper and then I starting accessorizing.

I removed one shelf on each side to open up the area and allow more space for my accessories to shine.  Then I strategically placed the decor until I had it just right.  Accessorizing bookshelves is one of my favorite things to do but it can take a little finesse until you get the perfect flow.

Weekend Wrap-Up: Inspiring Style-Vol. 28

Weekend Inspiration and Reads by ConfettiStyle

Happy  Sunday friends! I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend.  I spent yesterday in my office working on a variety of projects and didn’t get out to enjoy the sunshine. And unfortunately there’s no sun in the forecast today–only rain.    I picked the wrong day to spend behind my computer.  Anyway, before the rain starts, the hubs and I are headed out to run a few errands and take a quick walk.  Then I’m planning on spending the rest of the day working on some new projects for The Ribbon Roll blog.  When you get a little down time this weekend, sit back and enjoy my weekend links.
