My Classic Christmas Tablescape | 2019

Classic Christmas Tablescape by ConfettiStyle

I love creating tablescapes, especially at the holidays.  There is just something special about gathering family around a beautifully set table and celebrating Christmas.

This year my table decor is classic and traditional and includes a fun mix of dinnerware. Let’s gather around the table and celebrate the season!

Christmas Table Decor

CLASSIC CHRISTMAS TABLESCAPE

One of my favorite details at the table are the small evergreen wreaths that hang on the back of each chair.  The vibrant green wreath paired with a red satin ribbon really pops.

Classic Christmas Tablescape by ConfettiStyle

Because I have a lot of blue and white ceramic decor in my living room, I decided to use a mix of red and blue on the table.  I draped the table in a blue and white tablecloth and added a red runner down the center.

Then I created the centerpiece.

Since my place settings have a traditional vibe, I wanted the centerpiece to be a bit more whimsical. I placed a grouping of glass and ceramic Christmas trees down the center of the table and tucked greenery and berry sprigs at the base.

A few red ornaments and mini white ceramic trees add more visual interest.

ENTERTAINING TIP:  Scented candles can interfere with the flavors of the food being served.  Instead of candles, mix fresh evergreen sprigs in with faux stems to add a festive scent to the table.

I used faux evergreen placemats as the base of each place and mixed different dinnerware pieces for an eclectic look.  The red tartan plaid melamine plates look great with my formal white, red and blue willow plates.

At top of each place setting I folded red napkins in the shape of a bow with my thrifted green beaded napkin rings as the center.

TABLESCAPE TIP:  Layers help to create a table that is appealing from every angle.  Consider each layer, from the tablecloth up to the top of the centerpiece.  Use items with different textures and finishes to make the tablescape come to life.

Oh Christmas Tree | Holiday Home Tour 2019

2019 ConfettiStyle Holiday Home Tour

Hi there friends!  In case you’ve been wondering, I’m still alive.  This year has been all kinds of crazy at our house so my blog posts have been sporadic at best.  However, I’m determined to end the year on a high note and am finally sharing my holiday decor with you.

To kick things off, today I’m sharing my Christmas tree decor and tomorrow I’ll be back to share my Christmas tablescape.  The holiday season is my favorite time of the year so I’m thrilled I was able to pull things together and get my home decorated. Yea for taking life one day at a time and getting things done!

If you’ve followed me during the last few holiday seasons, you know that I typically host a holiday blog hop called The Merry & Bright Holiday Home Tour.  The tour has been going strong for 5 years but given all the shenanigans life has thrown my way, I decided not to host the tour this year.  Don’t fret, I’m planning to host the tour again in 2020 to bring you lost of holiday decor and magic.

So…with only 7 days until Santa arrives, I’m here to share my holiday home! Enjoy & Merry Christmas!

It’s Going To Be A Red Christmas–My 2019 Holiday Theme

2019 Christmas Decor Theme--Red + Burgundy by ConfettiStyle

Happy Tuesday friends! Every year I look forward to unveiling my Christmas theme and this year I’m extra excited.

Last December I started thinking about my decor theme for 2019 and had a general idea of the colors I wanted to use. I like flushing out my theme early so that I can take advantage of after-Christmas sales if I need too.

My planning starts by finding one decor piece or a photo that inspires the entire theme. This one element serves as the jumping off point for all my holiday decor and this year it was this gift wrap photo I spotted on Pinterest.  Since red is my favorite color and I often use red + pink as my signature colors, I was really drawn to this palette.  Red + pink with the addition of burgundy creates a really rich and elegant color palette.

The Color Palette

2019 Christmas Decor Theme--Red + Burgundy by ConfettiStyle

Once I had the inspiration for my decor, I started outlining my holiday decor plan.  Here’s a look at what I have planned for Christmas 2019.  I can’t wait to start decorating.

THE VISION

TREE:  The tree will be decorated with an assortment of with red, burgundy and pink ornaments. Luckily I already own different shades of pink ornaments and I scored some burgundy ornaments on clearance last year.  I always use ribbon on my tree but haven’t decided what color I’m going with.  I might use something with a pattern to add a fun and unexpected pop.

GIFT WRAP:  One of my favorite parts of decorating for Christmas is gift wrapping.  I have an absolute obsession for pretty paper and ribbon.  This year the majority of my gift wrap will be solid red paper with beautiful satin and velvet ribbon.

FIREPLACE:  I’m planning to drape the fireplace with lush green garland, pretty ribbon and twinkle lights.  I haven’t decided whether I’ll use any ornaments on the garland. I think I might keep the fireplace simple and classic this year.

TABLESCAPE:  The other thing I love to do at Christmas is create a beautiful holiday tablescape.  Red will be the dominant color in my tablescape and I’ll infuse a some burgundy and a little blue & white into the place settings.  All of these colors are represented in my everyday decor so there will be thread that connects all the decor together.

2019 Christmas Decor Theme--Red + Burgundy by ConfettiStyle

I’ll also be adding holiday touches to our master bedroom, my office and will be decking out the front door.

There are only 57 days until Christmas and even thought it’s somewhat controversial to decorate before Thanksgiving, I have to do it.  My schedule gets really busy with client work starting Nov. 1st so I’m actually going to start decorating next weekend.

I hope you love seeing my Christmas plans each year and are inspired to make your home magical at Christmastime!

Mood Board & Indecision | Week 2 One Room Challenge-Fal 2019

Fall 2019 One Room Challenge

Hello and Happy Thursday!  I hope you’re having a fantastic week!

I have been all over the board this week, working on a design project, creating ribbon craft projects for a client and  trying to make final decisions for the One Room Challenge (ORC).  And in case you missed it, last week I shared before photos of our master bedroom and my vision for the space. You can catch up with Week 1 of the ORC here.

Now that we are in week 2 of the challenge, I’m excited because today I’m sharing the inspiration board for my space.  But, before I do that here’s another look at my vision for the makeover.

ConfettiStyle Project List-Fall One Room Challenge

With my vision outlined, I created my mood board and was ready to start ordering the final pieces I need for the room.  Then I hit a hurdle with the wallpaper.

I’ve had two different wallpaper samples hanging up on the wall for weeks and thought I had made a decision on which one I was going with.

My initial choice was this pretty floral design in pink, grey and gold.  I love the bold pattern, soft colors and how well the pattern works with the bed, brass finishes and accents of black.  Mr. Confetti really likes this wallpaper too which had me convinced.

Here’s my initial mood board design which I’m calling Pretty In Pink…

MOOD BOARD #1

Pretty In Pink Bedroom Mood Board--Fall One Room Challenge by ConfettiStyle

Then I began to give the other wallpaper design a little more consideration and found myself  gravitating towards it.

This design is still soft and pretty but with a little more whimsy and pops of color. I love the looseness of the pattern and the dark background which will add more depth to the room. And there are gold/tan accents in the design so the brass elements work with this pattern too.

One of the reasons I find myself gravitating towards this design a bit more is because I think it relates better to the other rooms in my house.

Here’s the second mood board I created which I’m calling Whimsical Vines…

MOOD BOARD #2

Whimsical Vines Bedroom Mood Board--Fall One Room Challenge by ConfettiStyle

Design Tip:Not every room in your home needs to have the same design aesthetic.  But there should be some common threads that runs throughout your decor that makes it relate–design style, finishes or accent colors.

Most of the elements on each mood board are the same with the exception of the wallpaper, curtains and maybe the bedding.  The room will incorporate brass accents, different shades of grey and my favorite animal print.  I think both concepts check all the boxes for the vision I have for the space.

Decisions, decisions!

♦♦♦

WHAT’S YOUR PICK?

So friends, I need your help picking the wallpaper design.  I’d really appreciate it if you’d leave a comment here or on Instagram and let me know what design you like best.  I’m hoping to make a final decision by Monday.  Here’s a snapshot of the wallpaper patterns, colors and elements from each mood board to help you pick a winner.

Is it Pretty In Pink?

Or Whimsical Vines?

While the decision is being made, I’m going to continue to chip away at my project list.  So far I’ve got the rug in place, bench to upholsterer, scheduled the TV installation and finished painting. Week 3, I’m ready for you!

FYI–I’ll be sharing all of the sources for the items I’m using in the room during the Week 6 reveal.

Be sure to tune into the blog every Thursday to see how my design plans are evolving. And hop over to the ORC website to check out the 20 featured designers and hundreds of other guest participants.

DIY Spring Picture Frame Wreath

DIY Spring Picture Frame Wreath by ConfettiStyle

Hooray for Spring!  I’m so happy to usher in a new season that brings with it sunny skis and warmer temps.

To celebrate springs arrival, I decided to make a beautiful wreath to hang on my front door.  This wreath is my latest project as part of the design team for The Ribbon Roll ribbon company.  You can shop all their amazing ribbon here and find more ribbon projects on their blog.

Ok, let’s get this project underway.  Just like I did for my Christmas wreath, I  used a non-traditional base for this wreath–a rectangular picture frame.  And here’s my supply list…

DIY Spring Picture Frame Wreath by ConfettiStyle

Supply List:

  • Rectangular Picture Frame–I bought my frame at Hobby Lobby on clearance for $4.00.
  • Burlap Colored Wired Edge (item # CBBCM-BBB-AJF)
  • Pink and Orange Plaid Wired Edge Ribbon (item # BEGE-JW-HEE-JIK)
  • Fuchsia Dot Delight Wired Edge (item #BEGDHW-BBB-JIK)
  • Faux Flowers—you’ll need one or two bunches with 4 to 6 flowers on each.
  • Faux Greenery—one bunch of leaves works great for this project.  Pick a leaf variety that works with your flowers.
  • Wood Welcome Sign
  • Hot Glue Gun and Glue
  • Scissors or Garden Clippers
  • Burlap Twine
  • Craft paint or wood stain (optional)

Before I started assembling  the wreath, I prepared all of the components that I will be adding to the frame.

Prep The Supplies:

  1. Pull the flower heads off the bundle so there was just a tiny stub at the base of each flower.
  2. Pull the leaf bunch apart creating a handful of small leaf clusters.
  3. Cut a length of burlap ribbon 20” long and use twine to pinch it together every 5 inches.  The pinched sections are where the ribbon will be glued to the frame.
  4. Cut (10) 6″ pieces of each patterned ribbon. You’ll loop these and add to your wreath.
  5. Stain or paint the WELCOME sign.

Once you have all of your components ready, it will take you about 30 minutes to make the wreath.

Step 1: Attach the burlap ribbon to the frame in a random, zig zag pattern. Glue the pinched points to the frame using the hot glue gun and then pull the ribbon up to create peaks.  You can cover your entire frame with ribbon or just two corners like I did.

Step 2:  Glue a couple of leaf pieces at each pinch point and then add a flower on top of the leaves.

tip:  make sure to position your leaves and flowers going different directions along the frame so it has a natural feel.

Step 3:  Once the ribbon, leaves and flowers are attached, glue the Welcome sign in the center of the frame.  My sign fit perfectly from edge to edge on my frame.

And that’s it!   Now all you have to do is hang the wreath on your door and enjoy the season.

Weekend Inspiration and Reads by ConfettiStyle

Happy  Sunday friends! I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend.  I spent yesterday in my office working on a variety of projects and didn’t get out to enjoy the sunshine. And unfortunately there’s no sun in the forecast today–only rain.    I picked the wrong day to spend behind my computer.  Anyway, before the rain starts, the hubs and I are headed out to run a few errands and take a quick walk.  Then I’m planning on spending the rest of the day working on some new projects for The Ribbon Roll blog.  When you get a little down time this weekend, sit back and enjoy my weekend links.

Have you seen the new MoDRN collection from Wal-Mart?  It’s pretty amazing. The collection is a mix of modern and retro designs that are classic enough to work with any style of decor.  This white end table is one of my favorite pieces in the collection.

Valentine's Day Gift Wrap Inspiration by ConfettiStyle

Once you’ve purchased your gift you’ll want to wrap them to make them extra special.  This year I’m sticking to traditional colors–red & white and keeping my wrap fun and impactful. Here are two Valentine’s Day gift wrap ideas that you can pull together in a flash.

Valentine's Day Gift Wrap Inspiration by ConfettiStyle

Similar chipboard letters here

The foundation of my wrap is a tone-on-tone white striped paper.  I wanted the paper to have a little dimension and this fit the bill perfectly.  After I wrapped the boxes, I added a few embellishments.

I wrapped the first box with red & white twine and laced the ends through a paper heart with holes punched in the center.  I made the heart from decorative scrapbook paper using a  template I downloaded here. The plaid heart gives this gift a slightly more masculine feel and I love the pattern mixing that all the elements create.

tip:  look in the wedding section of big box stores for beautiful and elegant white wrapping paper.

For the second gift, I wrapped striped ribbon around the center of the box and tied a bow along one edge. Next I decorated the top of the box with large chipboard spelling out XOXO.  I painted the letters with red acrylic paint before attaching them to the box with double-sided tape.
