Unique Christmas Decor Finds To Make Your Decor Extra Special

Happy November friends!  Can you believe that there are only two months left in the year and only 50 days until Christmas?   Boy has this year flown by.  When it comes to Christmas decorating, I know there are two camps–put it up early or wait until after Thanksgiving. No matter where you are with decorating, I wanted to share a few awesome holiday decor items that I’ve come across recently.   From tree decor and gift giving, to entertaining and mantel decor, I’m sure you’ll find and item or you that you’ll love.  And while you’re shopping my picks, have your gift list handy because many of these items make great gifts too!

Favorite Christmas Decor Finds

Monogram Ornaments–I think these monogram ornaments are so darn cute!  I bought a handful to use as gift tags on presents but think they would also be fun napkin rings.  If you like these, you’ll want to get them soon because I think they are going to sell out fast.

Flat Stocking Holder–Finally a stocking holder that won’t compete with your holiday mantel decor.  And if you don’t have a mantel you can use them to hang stockings from a console table or bookshelf.

Buffalo Check Tree Skirt–This black and white check tree skirt is an easy way to add a fun twist to your Christmas decor no matter what your holiday color theme.

Aerin Heart Ornaments–I would buy this set of heart ornaments and break them up into individual gifts for special friends or clients.  The set would also look great in a pretty bowl as everyday decor.

Piles Of Patches Christmas Stocking–This stocking took my breath way.  It’s so pretty and unique!  I love the 3-d elements, fabric mix and the vintage feel that it has.

Ornaments Salad Plates–Every few years I buy a new set of holiday salad plates as an easy way to pair with my classic china. I love the fun vide and colorful pattern on these ornament plates.

Letter To Santa Christmas Mailbox Ornament–Whenever I teach a gift wrap workshop, people ask me for creative wrapping ideas for money gifts.  This mailbox ornament from the Hearth & Hand collection at Target would be great to hold folded up bills or a check.   Just add a gift tag and hang it on the tree and no one will suspect there’s a treasure inside.

Holiday Wreath Christmas Pillow–It’s really had to find a holiday pillow that not all red and green but still feels like Christmas.  I love the embroidered wreath on this velvet pillow.

Joy Napkin Wrap–A few months ago I shared a JOY napkin ring from Frontgate on the blog and so many of you loved it.  Unfortunately it’s no longer available but I found this option that’s just as fun.  It’s available in a gold and silver finish.

Mercury Glass Trees–Just add a string of lights or flameless candles inside these mercury glass trees for an instant centerpiece on a side board or mantel.

Felt Ball Garland–This felt garland would be so cute on a kids tree or draped along a staircase.  I’d also use the garland nestled into a plain glass vase or candle hurricane.

Velvet Ribbon–This velvet ribbon would make great bows to hang on a tree, garland or to use for gift wrapping.

And speaking of ribbon and gift wrap, do you want to take your gift wrap game to the next level this holiday?  If so, I’d love for you to join me for my Creative Gift Wrap Workshop on Dec. 1st, hosted by Steve McKenzie’s and Verde Home.  Full workshop detail below.  Space is limited so get your tickets today on Eventbirte.

Be sure to tune in all week as I’ll be sharing more holiday inspiration and decorating ideas with you.

I spotted this tassel Christmas stocking at Anthropologie and immediately thought about how easy it would be to UpStyle a plain stocking with yarn tassels.

I love this seasonal Thanksgiving tablescape from Minted. The layering is perfection.

For those of you that decorate for Christmas in traditional red and green, these gorgeous ornaments are for you.

These beaded ornaments would make fun wine bottle or gift tags.

  FALL & HOLIDAY FASHION FINDS

When its cold outside (like today) you’ll most likely find me wearing yoga pants and a sweatshirt. I love a sweatshirt that has a little style to it and recently picked up this cute striped sweatshirt.  It’s so cozy and I love the puff sleeve.

This tartan plaid shirt would be fun to wear to a casual Christmas party.

I don’t shop H & M that often but they’ve got some really cute clothes right now.  And you can’t beat their prices.  This cute nordic inspired sweater and this mohair blend sweater are two seasonal faves.

The Rustic Market | Acworth, GA

I like shopping at big box stores, but there’s nothing like shopping at boutique retail stores.  As a previous store owner, I know all about the hard work that goes into making these stores special.  And if you want decor that you won’t readily find elsewhere, specialty stores are where you want to shop.

One of my favorite specialty decor and gift stores in the Atlanta area is the The Rustic Market located in Acworth.  A few weeks ago I made a trip to visit the store and attend their open house event.  The store is really great and today I’m going to give you a little tour.

THE RUSTIC MARKET

Debbie, the owner of The Rustic Market opened the store several years ago and has continued to grow and expand the business.  The store is made up of three connected storefronts with open access between each space.  One section of the store has gifts and personal care items like candles and  bath and body products.  The middle section of the store is where you’ll find apparel and fashion accessories. The other side of the store is the new furniture gallery where you’ll find larger furniture pieces, wall decor, lighting and textiles.

The Rustic Market specialized in modern, farmhouse decor with beautiful wood and upholstered furniture, textiles and decorative accessories.  Their gift assortment includes a wide range of tabletop, entertaining and hostess gifts as well as a fun offering of unique baby items. I bought a set of these monogrammed dinner napkins and will be using them in my fall tablescape.

As you walk around the store, the beautiful displays will grab your attention and give you lots of decorating inspiration. And don’t forget to look high and low because there are unique items everywhere.

I love these oversized corbels used as bookends.  This would be a great statement on a mantel or hallway console table.

The black iron candle holder below was such a unique piece.  A pair of these would look great on a dining table for fall and holiday entertaining. If you love antique and vintage inspired wall decor, you’ll find lots of it in the store.

Unique Furniture, Gifts & Home Decor

The Rustic Market host open house events throughout the year so be sure to like their Facebook page to get notifications of upcoming event.  And cross your fingers that they are serving their Sangria because it is so good!

Supporting local retailers is one of the best ways to keep your city thriving and if you live in the Atlanta area, I recommend you indulge in a little retail therapy at The Rustic Market.

End Of Summer Coffee Table Decor

Happy Tuesday friends.  Is anyone else having a hard time wrapping their head around the fact that September is just a few days away?  Where has this year gone?  While I’m sad to see summer slip away, I must admit that I’m ready for fall.

Fall is one of my favorite decorating seasons and I’m already thinking about how I want to decorate for the season.  I can’t wait to cozy up my home!

Today I want to give summer one last hoorah by sharing my end of summer coffee table decor.  Just like summer, my table is bright, bold and filled with fun!

“A room should never allow the eye to settle in one place.  It should smile at you and create fantasy.”  –Juan Montoya

I make seasonal changes to my decor and the coffee table is one that gets a new look often.

My coffee table is square and fairly large so there’s lots of area to display books and collectibles.  The centerpiece of the table is an arrangement of silk pink peonies in a brass bowl.  I love adding flowers to the mix because they add color and softness.  Surrounding the flower arrangement are five groupings of coffee table books (one of my obsessions). I placed decorative accessory on top of each stack to create the eclectic look I like and to add dimension to the table.

I love using some of my vintage decor on the table.  This ceramic monkey was a given to me by a client and the brass bowl was a flea market find.

Candles are an essential part of my decorating style so there is always a candle in my coffee table arrangement.  If you’re shopping for fall candles, this autumn candle and this black ginger candles are two of my favorite fall scents.

It’s no surprise that there’s some blue and white pottery on my coffee table.

With fall approaching, I’m planning to refresh my coffee table decor in the coming weeks. Stay tuned to see how the look changes.

Home Decor Deals {End of Summer Clearance Sales}

Hi friends.  I hope everyone is having a great week.  I’ve been struggling this week trying to stay on top of my to-do and it hasn’t been easy.  I was up early today and needed to take a break from the computer so I did some online shopping.  Man-oh-man there some great end of season sales going on right now.  There are lots of great home and outdoor decor items on sale.  If you haven’t had a chance to do a little retail therapy lately, here’s your chance.  Today I’m sharing eight really amazing clearance finds I spotted online.  If you see something you like, you’ll want to add to cart quick because I don’t think any of these items will be around for long.  Happy shopping!

POTTERY BARN TEEN
–While most people think the product are Pottery Barn Teen and just for youth, it’s one of my favorite places to shop of unexpected home decor finds.  I recently spotted this preppy personalized tapestry on clearance for just $16.99. The minute I saw it, all kinds of creative ways to use it started popping into my head.  I ordered one and am planning to use it as a table linen.  It measures 42″ x 35″ and will look great layered on top of a white or blue tablecloth, draped across the middle of a dining table.  There’s also a black and white dot pattern if that’s more your style.

WEST ELM–I’m slowly moving away from glass vases and buying vases that you can’t see through. I like to have the water and flower stems concealed.  One of my go-to sources for vases is West Elm.  They always have a great selection and  I just picked up this faceted metal vase that is on sale for $24.99.  I love the shape and the brass finish.  There are other sizes available starting at just $6.99.

WORLD MARKET–If you love the idea of gold picture frames but want something with more of a vintage feel, you’ll want to snap up a few of these brass clad picture frames.   You can hang the frames on the wall or use them on a tabletop.  Two sizes available, 5″ x 7″ ($19.99) and 8″ x 10″ ($23.99).   These brass loop frames are also on clearance and would look great as part of a gallery wall display.

TARGET–Barcarts have become a design staple over the last few years.  In addition to using one for a bar, the can also be used to hold towels and toiletries in a bathroom.  I also like using them in an office to hold a printer and office supplies.  I don’t need another bar cart but this Project 62 modern bar cart is a steal at $59.99.

TARGET–When it comes to pillows, black and white designs are a great investment.  Black and white are easy to accessorize with other colors and like I shared in this Design Guide, every room needs a touch of black. This overused black and white lumbar pillow is on sale for just $18.47 and will look great on a sofa or on a bed.

H & M HOME–I own my fair share of cute serving trays  but can’t help to add a new one to the mix when I find a great deal.  This tropical leaf tray is a winner and the perfect accessory for serving drinks on the patio or using as a decorative piece on the coffee table.  At $8.99 this one will sell out fast.  **this would also make a great Christmas gift.

WORLD MARKET–Nothing like bold, colorful piece of artwork to make a statement with your home decor.  I could see this abstract floral art over a foyer table or hanging above a sofa. The gold frame is the perfect finishing touch. On sale for $79.99.

PIER 1–Now is a great time to buy outdoor furniture, decor and entertaining pieces.  While perfect for outdoor use, this blue acrylic stemware can also be used indoors.  Just think how amazing it would look paired with Blue Willow china.  There are a variety of styles and other colors available ranging in price $5.18 to $5.48 per glass.  Free shipping on a $49 order with code FreeShip49.

NORDSTROM–Since moving from Seattle where Nordstrom is headquartered, I don’t shop in the store as much as I use to.  And I often forget that they carry home decor items.  This J. Alexander gold lamp is large and substantial and is a really stunning piece and is on sale for $100.

MARK & GRAHAM–It’s never to early to start thinking about holiday gifts and Mark & Graham has some fabulous gift items on clearance.  This monogrammed glass bud vase ($19.99) would make a great teacher or girlfriend gift.

BALLARD DESIGNS–I’ve always loved the idea of using a wood riser like this one the kitchen to hold decorative items.  I first spotted this idea over on Dear Lillie where Jenni uses a similar riser as a decorative display piece.   Unfortunately the large riser is sold out but the small riser is on clearance for $59.99.  If a round shape will work better for you, this carved pedestal is also on sale.

GRANDIN ROAD–Even at full price, this rattan bench was a great buy but now it’s on sale for just $199.  This would be such a fun accent piece in a living room or at the foot of a bed.

Don’t forget when you out shopping to check the end-caps (end of the aisle) at your favorite stores.  This is where many stores merchandise their clearance items.

The New Ballard Designs Store | Atlanta

Last Friday I popped into the new Ballard Designs store here in Atlanta.  The store recently moved to a new location and more than doubled their space.

For years, Ballard Designs has been a great design resource for accent furniture, decorative accessories, tabletop items and linens. Over the years I’d pop into their store to find accessories for a project or the perfect pillow to finish off a bedding assemble.  The array of products makes it easy to find that perfect finishing touch.

Walking into their new store was absolutely breathtaking and was like seeing the page of the catalog come to life.  The expanded store space has a bright and open feel that really shows off the products.   There were beautiful at every turn and even the smallest design element like a coffee table book was styled as part of a beautiful lifestyle vignette. As I walked though the store I snapped lots of pictures of things that inspired me.

**Modern Mix is one of my all-time favorite design books.  If you don’t have a Ballard Designs near you, you can pick up a copy here.

Twine in a bow!!  Such a simple but chic decorative accent.

One of my favorite parts of the store was the outdoor living area which showcased Ballard’s outdoor furniture and decor.  It’s so nice to be able to see these pieces in person and get a real feel for the scale, details and quality.

In addition to furniture and decor, the store also has wallpaper, fabric and drapery hardware for sale.  And there is an on-site monogram station where you can have a Jute Tote bag personalized.

I know I’ll be making the trek to the Ballard Designs store more often and can’t wait to see the store all decked our during the holidays.
